Hello. I’m Billy.
I’m Scottish by birth, and no matter how many airports I have passed through, that has never really changed. I grew up in a country that taught me to speak plainly, to work hard, and to keep a sense of humour close by for the days that need one.
Billy spent more than thirty years working around the world on some of the largest gas and LNG construction projects ever built, with individual project values exceeding $30 billion, before turning his attention to writing books that help people navigate life’s more personal journeys. I lived out of suitcases in places most people only see on a map, and I met the sort of quiet, capable people who hold the world together without ever asking for credit.
Along the way I picked up a guitar, learned to listen more than I spoke, and married the woman who made every homecoming worth it. I’m a husband first, a musician when the room is right, and a traveller who has finally learned the value of staying still for a while.
The books on this site came out of all of it. Not the engineering — the life. The love and the loss. The friendships that lasted and the ones that didn’t. The long flights, the quiet mornings, the second chances. I write the way I speak, because I don’t know how else to do it honestly.
I’m not a coach, and I’m not a guru. I’m just a bloke who has been around long enough to notice a few things worth writing down. If any of it lands with you, I’d be glad.
