Billy's Books sells digital books, guides, workbooks and other downloadable publications ("Publications") through billysbooks.store.
We want purchases from Billy's Books to be straightforward and fair. This Refund Policy explains cancellation rights for digital content, what happens if something goes wrong with a Publication, and how to contact us about a purchase.
Nothing in this policy limits or excludes any statutory rights you may have as a consumer.
Digital Content and Your Right to Cancel
Consumers purchasing digital content online may normally have a 14-day statutory cancellation period.
Billy's Books provides purchased Publications digitally and normally makes them available immediately following successful payment.
Where you ask us to provide a Publication immediately, before the end of the applicable cancellation period, we will ask you to:
- expressly consent to the digital content being supplied immediately; and
- acknowledge that, once supply of the digital content begins, you will lose the applicable statutory right to cancel the purchase on that basis.
Where the legally required consent and acknowledgement have been obtained and supply of the digital content has begun, you will normally no longer have the statutory 14-day cancellation right simply because you have changed your mind.
If the required consent and acknowledgement have not been obtained, your statutory cancellation rights are not removed merely because the Publication has been made available or downloaded.
These cancellation rules do not affect your statutory rights where digital content is faulty, misdescribed or otherwise fails to meet applicable legal requirements.
If Something Is Wrong With Your Publication
If a Publication purchased directly from Billy's Books is corrupted, unreadable, inaccessible because of a problem for which we are responsible, or otherwise does not conform to the purchase contract, please contact us.
Depending upon the circumstances and your statutory rights, an appropriate remedy may include:
- restoring access to the Publication;
- providing a working replacement;
- correcting the digital content where appropriate;
- providing an appropriate price reduction; or
- providing a refund where required by law or where we consider a refund to be the appropriate solution.
We will provide any statutory remedy within the requirements of applicable consumer law.
Duplicate or Incorrect Charges
Please contact us if:
- you have accidentally been charged more than once for the same order;
- a technical error has resulted in an unintended duplicate purchase; or
- you believe the amount charged differs from the amount you authorised.
Where we confirm that an incorrect or duplicate charge has occurred, we will arrange an appropriate refund.
Publication Not as Described
We make reasonable efforts to describe each Publication accurately on its product page.
If you believe a Publication materially differs from its description, please contact us at billy@billysbooks.store and explain the problem.
Where digital content does not conform to its description or other statutory requirements, your rights under applicable consumer law will apply.
Change-of-Mind Requests
Once immediate supply of digital content has begun following the required express consent and acknowledgement, we are not normally required to provide a refund simply because you have changed your mind.
However, Billy's Books is an independent publishing business and we want to treat readers fairly.
If you believe there are exceptional circumstances surrounding your purchase, you are welcome to contact us. We may consider a discretionary refund where we believe that is fair and reasonable.
Any discretionary refund is additional to, and does not replace or restrict, your statutory consumer rights.
How to Request Help or a Refund
Please email:
billy@billysbooks.store
Where possible, contact us using the email address associated with your Billy's Books account and include:
- your name;
- your order number or transaction reference;
- the Publication concerned; and
- a brief description of the problem.
We aim to respond to customer enquiries within 3 working days.
How Refunds Are Made
Where a refund is approved, it will normally be returned through Stripe to the original payment method used for the purchase.
Once Billy's Books has instructed the refund, the time taken for the funds to appear in your account may depend upon Stripe, your bank or card provider.
Where a purchase has been fully refunded, access to the corresponding Publication may be removed from your Billy's Books account or library where appropriate.
Purchases Made Through Amazon or Other Retailers
This Refund Policy applies to purchases made directly through billysbooks.store.
Billy's Books publications may also be available through independent third-party retailers, including Amazon.
Where you purchase a book or Publication directly from Amazon or another retailer, your payment and order are handled by that retailer and its applicable refund and returns procedures will apply.
Refund requests for those purchases should therefore be made through the retailer from which you purchased the book.
Your Statutory Rights
Nothing in this Refund Policy excludes, restricts or replaces rights or remedies available to you under applicable consumer law.
Digital content supplied to consumers must meet applicable statutory requirements, including requirements relating to quality, fitness for purpose and conformity with its description.
Where digital content fails to conform to applicable statutory requirements, consumers may have rights to remedies including repair or replacement and, in appropriate circumstances, a price reduction which may include a refund.
